Books, Bipolar Reading

Published in 1999, probably a little dated but useful still. This book accurately describes the difficulty in diagnosing bipolar, the strangeness of the symptoms, and even provides an overview of how bipolar was viewed/diagnosed through history. This is a more clinical perspective, with a few personal anecdotes throughout. Illustrates the difficulty for doctors when prescribing medication, and connecting the dots when making a diagnosis-- bipolar expresses symptoms differently in different people.

This is one of the first books in my recommended reading that was provided to me when I first started therapy. Managing stress, as I am learning, is the second most important part of functioning and living with bipolar. I turn and return to this book often.
